Analysis and Discussion

Rodney Jones (2012, p.120) says that multimodal discourse analysis is a complex and rapidly developing field, and it would be impossible to demonstrate all of the many tools and concepts analysts have developed for the analysis of things such as images, gestures, gaze and posture. Based on the pages above the researcher will analyse the modality discourse analysis in following function:

 

a.       Ideational Function

This page contains 2 participants those are Iwan Budianto as CEO of Arema Cronous and Hamka Hamzah as Mitra Kukar football player. The page shows the moment of each actors, Hamka’s picture is the moment when he was playing football in Mitra kukar, Furthermore Iwan’s moment is when he argued to the public about hamka that will be contracted by Arema Cronous next year. The title of this page help to give strong statements that will be explained. The thing that make this page interesting is Hamka’s picture that as we know that he is strong backward player in Indonesian football and Arema is One of the best Football club In Indonesia. Ofcourse it will be make Aremania obvious wether arema will be strongest club becaouse Hamka Hamzah join arema or not. 

b.      Interpersonal Function

All of the picture of this page those are Hamka’s picture And Iwan’s picture taken in different situation. The pisitioning of the picture why Hamka’s picture is above Iwan’s picture is to make sure that the player is hamzah is the main topics of this page while Iwan’s picture is the supporting picture that give more intension that the CEO is give the Arguments that Arema will not Ask Hamka to join the club This year.as we can see in the fourth paragraph That iwan says “ Sepertinya batal, karena tidak menemukan kriteria yang di inginkan.” This argument give more espectation to the public that Hamka will join Arema But not this year.

c.       Textual Function

Hamka is the most important character in this page. Because he become the topics of the article so that’s way his picture is taken wahen he play in mitra kukar sesion. The picture is not taken in the rest time or in the condition when hamka was not playing football because it will give more impression that he is a football player. And about the jersey that Hamka use in the picture is Mitra Kukar that make sure the reader he plays ootbal in The good club that shows Hamka’s good constribution in playing football.

d.      Ideology

 This picture page is rich information about football player, transfer season, and the  football club. The scene of each picture and statements reminds the reader about football transfer in Indonesia. As we can see in second paragraph mentioned that ”namun, Jelang penutupan bursa transfers pemain ISL, Senin (9/6/2014) pukul 00.00 WIB, Arema Cronous gagal mendapatkan jasa mantan pemain Tim Nasional (Timnas) Indonesia ini di pertengahan musim ini.” This statements shows discourse of football transfer science knowledge to the reader.
